Yes, they contain elements of Lovecraft's unique brand of horror, but don't let the label of horror put you off. These stories are much more intriguing than they are terrifying. They explore the magic and power of occult wisdom and esoteric practices. And you will find that the introductions offered by Jeff Carreira will help to illuminate the contours of Lovecraft's vast vision of how the art of real dreaming can be followed all the way to the attainment of cosmic awareness.
H. P. Lovecraft
Howard Philips Lovecraft, known popularly as H. P. Lovecraft, was a writer of strange and unusual fiction that is generally classified in the genre of horror, but in truth occupies a category as unnamable as the creatures in his stories. Lovecraft was born in 1890 in Providence, Rhode Island, about a thirty minute drive from where I grew up myself. He devoted his life to writing stories for pulp fiction magazines and carrying on long written correspondences with other authors. He died virtually unknown and poverty stricken at the age of forty seven in 1937.
Jeff Carreira is a mystical philosopher and spiritual guide. He is the author of eleven books on meditation and philosophy. He teaches online programs and leads retreats throughout the world that teach people how to let go of their current perceptual habits so they are free to participate in the creation of a new paradigm. To put it simply, he supports people to live a spiritually inspired life, free from the constraints of fear, worry and self-doubt, and aligned with their own deepest sense of meaning and purpose.
