It’s not that you stop being disturbed by things. It's more that you stop being disturbed by being disturbed. And that’s the key. You come to a place where your not anxious about being anxious and you accept your entire human experience even the parts you don't like.
That is Freedom!
Anxiety is a modern epidemic. Most of us live under the cloud of a foreboding sense that something is wrong. Even when we feel happy, there is a part of us that remains on guard. The symptoms of anxiety, tension, and stress are well known to us, but the antidotes to this modern malady often seem elusive.
In this workshop, you will learn that a great deal of the anxiety we feel is a cultural habit of worry and self-concern, and that meditation is being widely recognized as a means of breaking that habit.
In particular, you will explore a form of meditation that Jeff Carreira calls The Practice of No Problem. Practicing this simple technique for even the duration of this seminar will reveal to you the personal and cultural sources of our anxiety, and will allow you to transcend fear, worry and self-concern.
The real thrill you discover in a practice like meditation is you can actually change your experience of consciousness.
Things that were obvious to you before (like anxiety), may start to disappear, and things that you have never seen before (like new possibilities for your life), will start to show up.
“I felt like everything I'd been working on up to now had left me, in a time of crisis, completely ready to absorb this. Now when I meditate, I dwell for a short time in a place where memories and thought roam across my brain and then the switch flips and I go somewhere else entirely...”
“Your 'practice of no problem' proposal is paradoxically not an easy door for me, but trying to follow you there helps me go deeper in this mystery that Life is."
“I have become more relaxed with what ever my situation is, I feel more calm and at ease. Also I am seeing when I show up fully for life, bad conditions often turn into joy and happiness. I have experienced this situation several time."
“I feel more comfortable not making a problem of the flow of thoughts continually in my mind. I like the lesson that it’s ok to think that life is okay even when events are negative."
