In service of cultivating ambassadors of possibility BY bringing people together in an empowering embrace of their own deepest spiritual realizations.

The longer story…

If you ask Jeff Carreira what he’s most excited about he will reply without hesitation—“cultivating the conditions for the emergence of a new paradigm by supporting as many individuals as possible to articulate their deepest realization of truth.” Mystical philosopher, spiritual guide, teacher, writer and lecturer —are just a few descriptors that come to mind when describing Carreira and his extensive career as a seeker, student and teacher.

Early experiences of cosmic consciousness left deep childhood impressions. After he lost access to those glorious experiences his life as a seeker began at the tender age of about five. From then on he always felt as if he were living two lives, one in the world and one constantly seeking to go beyond it. He received a graduate degree in education, embraced a career as an educator, married and never the whole time he never stopped seeking spiritual wisdom through study and practice.

He has spent decades studying, practicing and teaching mystical traditions especially of the East and studying the deep philosophical tradition of the West. This unique combination of Eastern Mysticism and Western Philosophy characterizes Carreira’s work as a writer, teacher and philosopher.

Extensive spiritual practice and profound experiences of awakening make Carreira’s articulation of subtle philosophical insights both deeply personal and broadly accessible. In fact the thing most often praised in Carreira’s work is his ability to make even the most intricate insights and ideas comprehensible and impactful to a wide audience of people.

Through his work he inspires people to realize that they too can understand the mysteries of being and that this deep understanding can unleash a potential in them that is waiting to be released.

After years of dedicated seeking Carreira’s spiritual search came to an end after he met a spiritual teacher and embarked on a twenty year journey in an experimental practice community. The focus of this communal life allowed Carreira to engage in spiritual practice with a degree of one pointed intention that is generally not possible. It was also during this time that his interest in the Western philosophical tradition was rekindled and he discover that philosophies like Phenomenology, Pragmatism and Existentialism powerfully enhanced the spiritual insights he had gained through Eastern practices.

“Philosophy is not a luxury,” Carreira states, “because deep philosophical inquiry is critical if we want to understand who we are as human beings in the 21st Century.” His own ongoing philosophical investigations are chronicled in his blog posts and books. He has lectured at such prestigious institutes of higher education as Harvard University, The University of Pennsylvania, Bennington College, Oglethorpe University and the University of Western Australia.

Before embracing spiritual life Carreira received his undergraduate degree in physics and worked as a research engineer designing, building and testing electro-optical laser devices. After five years he decided to move into a more humanitarian field. He received an M.E.D. and taught special needs and directed a school for adjudicated youth.

It was during this time that he met a spiritual teacher who inspired him to dedicate his life to spiritual pursuit. For the next twenty years he engaged in extensive spiritual practice with a small group of highly committed individuals. Years of unbroken spiritual work in a highly concentrated environment lead to numerous experiences of spiritual awakening and energetic opening.

“Two experiences in particular have most shaped my understanding of reality.” Carreira shares, “The first was a series of awakenings that occurred during a two-month long silent meditation retreat in the summer of 2001. During this time I was free to engage in nonstop spiritual practice for 60 days and I experienced explosive energetic awakenings, periods of constant consciousness, and prolonged times of deep abidance in the awareness of pure consciousness. The most significant realizations of that retreat, however, occurred in formal dialogs between all of the retreat participants which resulted in experiences of profound experiences of collective awakening that gave us shared access to higher mind.”

The second transformative experience that shaped Carreira’s character and work occurred during a 2005 retreat in India. It was here that he experienced directly that what appears to be:

Our individual existence and our personal development is, in truth, an inseparable part of a singular process of cosmic evolution.”

These experiences led Carreira to become a prominent teacher and the Director of Education for the spiritual educational nonprofit EnlightenNext from 2006 to 1012. In that role he created spiritual education programs that catalyzed transformation for thousands of people throughout the world. In addition he designed an introductory spiritual curriculum and trained nearly 200 teachers to facilitate it all over the world.

In 2010 Carreira was invited to co-teach help build a group called The Evolutionary Collective. He remained in that work for the next few years and helped facilitate a period of dramatic growth. This association added another dimension to an already spiritually overflowing life.

In 2015 Carreira decided to focus his energies on his own work combining his extensive spiritual experience and deep understanding of both Eastern mysticism and Western philosophy in an effort to shift the current paradigm. As he describes it, “We are moving from a paradigm rooted in an assumption of separation and operating according to the principles of individual achievement, into a new paradigm rooted in an assumption of unity and operating according to the principles of collective emergence.”

Carreira’s passion for large scale change and his conviction that the highest realizations of spiritual inspired individuals can be the catalyst for that change is inspiring thousands of people around the world. Carreira spends his time writing blog posts, essays and books that share his most recent thinking and realizations. He teaches in-person and virtual courses including a yearlong collaboration with his spiritual compatriot and friend Craig Hamilton. He also leads retreats and workshops in American and Europe.
